Held close or on a narrow jet it will cut lines into the surface and strip sealer in stripes you will see for years. Deal with spills quickly, because a sealed slab gives you time but not unlimited time.
The Stains That Do the Most Damage
A few specific things cause most of the permanent marking on coloured slabs, and knowing them lets you head the problem off rather than treat it.
Iron-based fertiliser is the worst offender on Australian driveways, since granules that bounce onto the concrete and get wet leave rust staining that is extremely difficult to remove, particularly on lighter tones. Sweep any overspread off immediately and never water it in on the slab. Fallen leaves and bark are next, because organic tannins leach out when they sit wet on the surface, so clear them rather than letting them mat down over winter.
