Local Concrete for Wallan Slabs, Driveways and Sheds
Wallan is only a short run down the Hume from our plant in Broadford. That means your load turns up fresh, your finisher gets the working time they need, and you deal with a family business instead of a city depot. House slabs, estate driveways, rural shed pads and decorative finishes.
From Estate Blocks to Five-Acre Lots, We Cover Wallan
Wallan is the fastest growing town in Mitchell Shire, and every new street needs concrete.
Which Concrete Suits Your Wallan Project?
A slab under a new house and a feature driveway out the front need different things from the concrete. Here’s how most Wallan orders break down.
Pouring in Wallan Weather
Plenty of Wallan estates have design guidelines that cover the driveway. They can set the finish and colour, and sometimes a deadline to have it done after you move in. Check yours before you settle on anything, because a poured aggregate can’t be swapped later.
A sample photo and your actual block can look quite different in full sun. Our guide to choosing exposed aggregate colours explains why. Putting in a new crossover from the road? Mitchell Shire usually wants a vehicle crossing permit first, so apply for it well before your pour date.
Getting the Site Ready Before the Truck Arrives
Wallan sits higher and colder than the suburbs further south. Frost settles on still winter mornings, and the wind can swing in hard off the ranges. Neither is kind to fresh concrete. Through winter, aim for a pour after the frost has burnt off, and have blankets or plastic ready to cover the slab before night falls.
Summer brings the opposite problem. Hot northerly winds pull water out of the surface quickly, which leads to cracking if the finish is rushed or left to dry out. Starting early in the day gives your crew cooler conditions to work in. If the forecast looks shaky, phone us a day ahead and we can talk through moving the booking or adjusting the mix.
